The Quadrathlon was conceived by David Fox-Pitt as an interesting way to entertain guests who came to visit Kindrochit during the Summer. It began with just David and one other and they completed the 4 disciplines which included a half mile portage of their kayaks.
In 2003 Artemis Investment Management came on board as a title sponsor of the event giving the event that vital boost to really get it moving. From that point on the event has grown and grown. The Quadrathlon was picked up by the BBC in 2008 and was the featured event on The Adventure Show. The 2010 event sold out in record time and was a real cracker, despite the best of the Scottish weather being thrown at us! 320 nutters took part in our toughest event, our biggest field to date. Two local doctors set an impressive new course record of 8 hours 10 minutes in glorious weather in 2009. In September 2009 the event was placed in the Daily Telegraphs ‘Top Ten Events’.
The Quadrathlon has also been a real fundraising success story and although it is our smallest event it has pulled in over £700,000 in the past 3 years and thanks to Mercy Corps, that has been match funded by various agencies to an incredible £3.2 million!.
What they said in 2010
Somehow, i'm sitting at my desk at work this morning, although i'm still not quite sure how!
Despite the weather, Saturday's event was truly spectacular, and as a team that took nearly 15 hours, i feel we got more for our money than the quick ones at the front! The pain will no doubt subside, but the sense of achievement will remain and grow.
Whilst we heard many rounds of thanks and applause for the team, supporters and volunteers over the weekend, i wanted to add my own. Everyone involved put in an exceptional performance - above and beyond - yet somehow maintained massive smiles and gave full encouragement for the full 15 hours we were on the course, and when getting a puncture outside Kenmore, we were accosted by no fewer than three sets of marshals and medics offering assistance - and we were only stopped for 5 minutes!
Whilst the global effort is well recognised, it was also the small things we'll remember - the medics refusing to sell their quad bike for cash, the world's best cheese and pickle sandwiches at the reservoir, the massive heater in the tent between kayak and bike, and the wonderful massage at the end.
Words really don't do justice, but i'm sure you can all rest easy that you're surpassed our expectations for a successful and memorable event.
The only let down? Despite numerous references, i didn't see any underwater knife fighters...and we never did see the naked hen night photos...
It would be remiss to say i'll definitely be back again at this point, but you've got a good calendar of other events to consider!

Thanks again for such an incredible event: the organization was unbelievable, and the level of detail, help and fun second to none. It was run like the best military operation. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of it, surrounded by such an inspiring, friendly, team of organizers, helpers, volunteers and participants, and more mountain rescue/ medics/ boats/ planes/ hovercraft/ underwater knife fighters than your average James Bond film! I imagined that if you so much as grazed your knee you would have been swept up, given tea and cake, plastered up, massaged, patted on the back and put back on route. Please pass on my thanks to David.

Just a quick email to thank you for organising the event at the weekend, although the weather was against us I thought everything was awesome. The organisation of the event must have taken a lot of time. I thought everyone was fantastic. The support teams always had a smile on their faces and were always so encouraging. I have done a number of things but this was by far the best event because of everyone that was involved. The competitors did it too with a smile and were always charming.

Thanks very much to everyone at Wild Fox Events / Artemis / Mercy Corps for a most amazing day! I am not a regular quad/tri-athlete or extreme event 'nut' so can't make comparisons with other events, but the Kindrochit blew us (team mate) away. From arriving at the registration, listening to the safety briefing and completing the event (and eating loads of cake and powerbars) the professionalism, dedication and friendliness of everyone involved with the event was absolutely first rate. We are definitely up for next year's quadrathlon but may wait a little longer until lower back, triceps, thighs, knees and feet have recovered sufficiently to confirm 100%.

I just wanted to reiterate what I said on the weekend - what a wonderful and well organised event. I brought my whole family up to support and the weather did not dampen their enthusiasm and if anything for Brett and myself it just added to the sense of achievement!
The team are a real asset and everyone from the organisers, support teams, competitors and even local support make it really special (my favourite support has to be the 2 boys in a farm gateway who had drawn a felt tip poster spelling out 'go on - you can do it!' - especially good on the last leg of the event!

Christian and I (Team Crazy Horse) wanted to write and thank everyone involved with the Kindrochit Challenge for a truly momentous, enjoyable, and extraordinary experience last weekend.
Our twin goal was to make it round the course and enjoy doing it. To be honest, we were doubtful on both scores in the lead up to the big day. It seemed like an awfully long journey ahead of us. On the day, however, we were blown away by the atmosphere, beauty, camaraderie, and the incredible organisation & support services by WildFox. We had fun!
We were also pleased to get a first hand account of the good work Mercy Corps are doing in Guatemala and to have the chance to meet Carlos, the head guy out there. Thanks to everyone involved for a brilliant and memorable event.
